Tegra APX Series to Bring HD to Android Handsets

Finally a little bit of confirmation on the rumored marriage of NVIDIA’s Tegra chipset and Android! We’ve been pining for this day for quite some time and a few of you regular readers will be over the moon with this announcement.

NVIDIA’s Tegra APX will deliver 720p video capture and playback, advanced 3D technology and much more to Android devices. Look for these to start shipping around the middle of the year!

And as if that’s not enough to make you happy, then perhaps this will. NVIDIA is claiming that the $99 High Definition Mobile Internet Device (HD MID) is not far off. According to one of the guys over at PhoneDog, the device runs off of Windows CE (bleh) and pledges 10X the battery life of Intel’s Atom-based MID’s.
