Regarding an online market, there's http://www.cyrket.com . The regular Android market web site should provide this though, and allow developers to post longer descriptions with screenshots.

It would be great if there was an online version of the Marketplace where I can scroll through all the apps on a big monitor and see more in-depth descriptions, screenshots. Basically an expanded version of this: http://www.android.com/market/

Yes I agree that too many apps becomes daunting and I have the problem of not knowing which ones to trust. I read comments but sometimes people don't leave very helpful or constructive comments.

Online reviews are what I rely on the most. So I strongly suggest getting your app reviewed by a popular blog.

Second is Keyword searches when I'm looking for a very specific app. I still try and check reviews for that app online before installing.

And lastly is the more general browse when I'm looking up a broader genre such as games. Again, I'll search online for reviews, but sometimes I just install on a whim (if they are free) and delete it if I don't like it.

You don't even want know how much time I've spent tweaking my strategy/description for a2b haha! I completely agree with JB ~ the app store UI needs an overhaul and web based version would be a great ad on as well! No sense in rewriting the book.... just follow apples lead.

Btw, here's my latest a2b description. Let me know what you think. 323 characters haha

"Perfect for finding your car, navigating on foot, remembering a location! Store unlimited locations with pic, voice recording, and notes. GPS navigates you from current to your stored location ~ follow the green arrow on the map! Updates: Email location. Turn by turn directions
Screenshots: www.froogloid.com/product"

One of the biggest complaints I have is that I can't post what enhancements have been made when deploying a new version unless I want to include it in the description...

personally, I think the Market needs a UI overhaul. it shoulnd't be a list. lists are too tedious to navigate. Google should also consider setting up a version of the market on the web to aproximate what Apple does with its App Store. anyone who has looked at the App Store knows that its formate is pretty user freindly
