HTC: We'll Ship "At Least Three" Android Phones This Year

htc_logo1While we wait on the rest of the Open Handset Alliance’s hardware makers to get off their butts and start putting out phones, HTC is moving full speed ahead with their lineup.

CEO Peter Chou was in Taipei at a Merrill Lynch tech conference earlier today when he was asked about reports indicating HTC’s plans to market five Android-based handsets this year.

HTC will launch “at least” three, he replied.  Chou did not elaborate beyond the statement.  We’ve seen the HTC Magic announced already, with some expecting a US equivalent to become the T-Mobile G2.  Now one has to wonder if all of HTC’s roadmap was leaked back in January, and if so, which models could be Android-based?

After 2 bars of soap with chins, I'm not looking forward to the rest of their lineup. Who are we kidding, the best thing about their G phones was Android, period.

Almost definitely the Android Hero, but after reading some rumors and "insiders" on the TmoNews message board, the third phone could be the Memphis, or oddly enough, the Whitestone. Sounds like a great lineup either way, and with Samsung's supposed Android handset leaked earlier today, it's become very clear that hardware manufacturers are finally stepping up.
