BGR: Calgary to be First Android Handset from Motorola

The Boy Genius Report is, well… reporting that the first Android handset from Motorola will be the Calgary.  Shown below in mockups, the device has that some of that same old MOTO feeling to it mixed with a little new.  It’s a slide up QWERTY that doesn’t have a chin, which should appeal to small handed folks who don’t like typing on the G1.

According the BGR’s tipster, this handset is headed to Verizon with a second quarter release.  We find launch date to be a little suspect, but stranger things have happened.  As far as Verizon being the carrier goes, that’s not so much of a surprise any longer.

Even though BGR is usually pretty spot on, we will file this under unconfirmed rumor for now.
