Bsquare has officially announced that they are porting Adobe’s Flash Lite 3.17 technology onto Dell Netbooks running Google’s Android platform.

Integrating Adobe Flash technology with the functionality of Google’s Android platform on the full range of Netbook devices will allow our OEM customers to meet the high expectations their customers have of this new industry segment. As the Netbook and Nettop market segments expand, our Adobe Flash Lite port to Android is just one of the software products we will offer our OEM and ODM customers. – Bsquare  CEO Brian Crowley

We previosuly reported an announcement back in March about Bsquare porting Adobe’s Flash technology “for a global Tier 1 carrier.”  It’s not known whether the netbook is what was being referred to back then.  Perhaps T-Mobile or another carrier is getting into the netbook game a la AT&T?

UPDATE:  Looks like someone jumped the gun with the announcement.  The WSJ is reporting that it “shouldn’t have been made.”  Dell spokesman Andrew Bowins said the press release was published “in error,” though he didn’t deny the content of the announcement.

“Dell constantly assesses new technologies as part of managing our product development process and for consideration in future products. ”
