Amazon Releases Shopping Application for Android

amazon_appShopping behemoth Amazon.com has announced a shopping application for Android handsets.  Available as a free download, users have access to Amazon and thousands of other merchants wherever they are.  One of the cool things this app offers is their Amazon Remembers feature.  This experimental service allows users to take a picture of a product or scan the barcode and receive product matches.   Most results appear instantaneously while others only needing a few minutes.

Customers have been requesting an Amazon shopping application on their Android devices and we are thrilled to bring them the Amazon App for Android.  In addition to their favorite Amazon shopping features, Amazon App for Android users can use Amazon Remembers to easily keep track of the items they see in their daily lives and even instantly match photos and barcodes to products available at Amazon.com. - Sam Hall, director of Amazon Mobile.

Other features in Amazon App for Android include:

  • Purchasing using Amazon’s 1-Click® ordering and Amazon Prime
  • Tracking packages or modifying orders using the Your Account feature
  • Receiving personalized recommendations
  • Viewing editorial and customer reviews
