Mobilizy Demos 3D Objects with 9/11 Memorial [VIDEO]

mobilizy_logoThe two big guns in Augmented Reality apps for Android, Mobilizy (maker of Wikitude World Browser and other apps) and Layar have quite a little arms race going. Two weeks ago, Layar announced support for 3D objects.  This week, Mobilizy matched the feature, and demonstrates it with perhaps the first example of augmented reality with emotional impact: point your phone at Ground Zero in Manhattan and see the World Trade Center rise again.

If you're in New York and can try it out, let us know how it works. And while the developers seem very respectful about this, do you think it's in good taste to demo a new feature this way?

Hmm, I'm not sure about good or bad taste. An interesting new feature though.

From my point of view (from Europe), I don't think it's a bad idea. I find it very respectful and I don't think that people would be offended (they shouldn't, IMHO).

It's a digital memorial. I like the idea.
