Droid Eris Packaging and “In the Wild” Shots

droid_eris_wild_01Here's some Saturday multimedia to share with you guys.  PhoneArena was able to score a few shots of the HTC Droid Eris in the wild, running Sense.  There's also a pic of the packaging which might indicate the general direction of Verizon's "Droid" marketing.  The box for the Eris is eerily similar to that of the Droid.  Perhaps they'll all look like this, save for the name at the top...

This actually brings up a question - What's your opinion on Verizon's decision to market all Android phones under the Droid umbrella?  Confusing or clever?

We can't for later in the week when this and the Droid go on sale!  It's exciting to think about the nation's largest carrier getting ready to drop some Android goodness.

    I think if they would have given THE Droid an additional name it wouldn't be as confusing, but since they've got the Droid, the Droid Eris, etc. it will get a bit confusing...

    I agree w/ BobBruff, you have the Droid, and then a bunch of Droid xxxx, confusing. They should have called the line the droid and had the Droid Eris, and something like the Droid tao(but a better name) for the Droid.

    I agree with the other posters that the Motorola Droid should have a second name.

    Presumably, after Verizon's marketing campaign, people will start saying things like: "I'm going to get a Droid" or "I have a Droid". Will they be referring specifically to the "Motorola" Droid, or to "any" Droid, in the Droid family?

    I'd just like to know which one to get...the Motorola Droid or the HTC Eris Droid? I've reserved The Droid at Best Buy and though I suspect it's the better of the two...the Eris sure looks more "pocketable". But if it's only running Android 1.6 I'll take the larger of the two.

    I think it's kinda misleading considering how the eris doesn't have a physical keyboard or the ability to take photos in the dark, both of which the "droid" was supposedly characterized by.

    any why does it matter? ..buy the one you want and quit whining about something so silly.

    can you tell the difference between a ford focus and a ford taurus .. or does your mommy still need to hold your hand for you?
