@Jose: Right you are! They actually should change the famous phrase in the Bible for it :D
Again, a great post (as I red it over again)

Thanks Barwin... not raised, no. Grew to appreciate later in life though! :) My fav line was "LET THERE BE APPS" and there were APPS! Hahaha. I know its not right to laugh at your own stuff, but I still like how that sounds! :)

Good stuff Jose.

Apple lost the PC war under very similar circumstances, and Microsoft was by all measures incompetent.

Google is no Microsoft.

Android is still ~6 months behind the iPhone, in terms of speed and fluidity. I expect we'll see the crossover point with some more code optimization and when the Snapdragon/Tegra phones debut en-mass. Basically, when pinch-zoom exists natively in the browser and Google Maps, and it's as smooth and fluid as it is on the iPhone or Zune HD there will be no performance reason to choose any hardware from Steve Jobs' universe.

Having said that, competition is *always* a good thing. It's important for Microsoft to have a search engine and a viable music player, and for the Cartel in Cupertino to always have their high-tech portfolio, if only to keep the marketplace honest and give bearded college hipsters some overpriced alternatives.

Except, it completely forgets that Apple wasn't the first. The iPhone was nowhere near the first "smartphone": I was doing everything the iPhone can do on a Treo 600 three years earlier.
