Those of you who own the Sprint Hero will be happy to know that a maintenance release for Android is in the works. While it's not an upgrade to 1.6 or 2.0, it's essentially a patch update to fix those pesky SMS issues. According to the Sprint Community forum, this update will be arriving in the next few weeks.
A maintenance release is being developed for the Hero to address key items such as SMS and DST issues. The target launch is in the next few weeks, but I do not have the exact date or a list of everything that will be included yet. I will post updates as they are made available to me.
We hadn't heard of any Daylight Savings Time problems over this way, but that's not to say it hasn't been a thorn in the sides of a few people. Keep your eyes open for the fix!

I hope that the DST issue they are fixing is the one mentioned on this thread:

This is actually a little sad to me. A few weeks for a bug fix? So, then, how long before 2.0 makes it onto the Hero? If 2.0 was coming out within a few weeks, they'd just fix it there. This makes me think 2.0 is months away.
