Zii Optimized Android Handset to Debut in December

zii_summitCreative Technology’s Zii endeavor appears to be picking up steam and Android looks to be an integral part of its future.  After starting out with the ZiiEGG back in the summer, Creative has expanded to other devices like the MediaBook. According to a website Creative fansite  ‘myCreative’, ZiiLabs is set to unveil a host of products at a summit on December 1st and 2nd.  From a Tablet PC, to a netbook, and all places in between, we’re anxious to see what they announce.

But the highlight of our devices line-up is our Mobile Phone platform. ZiiLABS ushers in a new era of explosive high definition 3D with the Zii Optimized Android Phone platform. The Zii Optimized Android Phone platform gives developers the chance to use the familiar Android OS, but with a difference. Harnessing StemCell Computing Technology found on the ZMS-05 Media Rich Processor, Android is now super-charged with seamless 3D graphics and High Definition video playback performance.

So what’s in store for the phone?  How about awesomeness?  Check it out.

  • Phone with Fully featured Android Platform
  • OpenGL ES 3D graphics
  • 1080p HD video output
  • Accelerated video, graphic and imaging
  • Full integration with SurfaceFlinger
  • High Quality Audio
  • Enhanced User Interfaces
  • Image Processing
  • Accelerated Web Browsing

ZiiLabs has a processor they’re working on called ZMS-08, which comes PACKED with next-level capability.  Among the features are 1080p Blu-ray Quality, Full H.264 HD 1080p Video Playback, 720p Video Conferencing, and 1GHz ARM Cortex Application Acceleration.

The trend so far with ZiiLabs seems to be put out products that ready to be rebranded under a carrier or licensed name and cross their fingers.    Here’s hoping that someone in a tier-1 wireless provider picks up a few of their devices and offers them to consumers.  We’re pretty sure there would be more than a few of us who wouldn’t mind a little contract/subsidization.  Heck, just make it easier to get some of these and we’ll be happy.
