Motorola Motus Image and Specs Arrive

Not the Kind of MOTOBLUR we Had in Mind

There must be some unwritten rule somewhere that says the first picture taken of any handset must be blurry.  What is it with these things?  Does everybody have to rush through a photo?  Anyways, here's the first picture of the Motorola Motus, a unique device slated to arrive in early 2010.  We say 'unique' because of the technology likely to be found in the unit.

We can (barely) tell from the image that the phone bears more than a passing resemblance to the Motorola Cliq.  With the outside looking similar to the T-Mobile handset, will the inside be the same?  Is the Motus just going to be a different variation on the same old, same old?  If the specs turned over to AndroidAndMe are any indication, that could be exactly what we are in for.

CellPassion thinks that the name Motus will end up being dropped in favor of Backflip.  Why?  They found that Motorola has registered the name 'Backflip' with the Trade Marks and Registration Office of the European Union.

What do you guys think given what you know so far?  Is this a mid-range phone built with a gimmick or could Motorola be on to something?
