The Android Market has doubled its size over the last five month, going from 10,000 to 20,000 apps. According to Androlib, the number of apps hit the milestone earlier today and shows no sign of slowing. Take a look at the chart below and you'll see the number of new applications arriving in the Market is growing month to month. At this rate, the number should hit 30,000 in the next 2-3 months.
As far as the mix between paid and free apps goes, things haven't changed much in the last 5 months. Whereas the mix was 35.7% paid apps before, it's slightly higher at 37.7%.

And... how many of them are fart apps and lil'wayne soundboards? Hmm?
@Someone
Every phone is going to have silly applications, and that's just the way it unfolds. We all learned that from the iPhone, there's no need to bear something against Android developers for doing the same thing.
I wonder how many are from Monseta and similar spammers?

About time Goggle charges a nominal posting fee for apps, fully refundable on exceeding minimum # of user downloads so real app developers are not penalized.
