App Review: Blogaway, Android Blogger Client

Blogaway New Post

New Post UI in Blogaway

Having recently started a blog over at Blogger and being a new Android owner, I wondered if maintaining it from my mobile was possible. After a few searches I found an application that seemed to fit my needs. Blogaway met and has so far exceeded the ability to interact with my Blogger sites. Sure you have the ability to email posts and pictures to your blog and you can interact with it using the onboard browser but what about being able to do it a little better? The primary Blogger web interface is usable on the handset but a bit cumbersome to use due to screen size.

Some features for Blogaway include:

  • Multiple account support
  • Integrates with Google Picasa and YouTube accounts for video and pictures
  • Rich text editor
  • Commenting
  • Tags and labels
  • Links
  • Saving drafts locally

The UI is easy to pick up and navigate, with a slight learning curve to the rich text editor. I feel this will improve as it is a recent addition to the application. Rich Text Editor

Initially I had issues even getting it on my HTC Hero, it did not appear in the Market nor did the QR code allow the download. I contacted the developer and within a few hours he had submitted me the apk file. I was blogging minutes later.

I have used the application for about a month now and been through a few updates which always fix any issues that have popped up. My biggest issue was the lack of saving drafts, which was promptly fixed. You will get excellent support from the developer. If you have a blog on Blogger, you should definitely check this application out. Blogaway is under active development and user feedback appears to make it into the updates. • Can't find this in the market on my Motorola Dext. Very frustrating as it says it runs on Android 1.5. One of the frustrating things about the Dext is that some apps aren't showing in the market. It looks like a good app that could be very useful.

  • I had trouble finding it also. I did a Market search for "Beanie". This brought it up. You can also contact the dev, he'll hook you up with the apk.
