Schmidt: 65,000 Android Phones Sold Per Day

Google CEO Eric Schmidt was speaking at the company’s Google’s annual shareholder meeting where he dropped a few stats on us.  Let’s get to them, shall we?  Android now powers 34 mobile devices in 49 countries.  That’s quite a long way to come since the days when T-Mobile US was sole provider of the G1 handset.  Heck of a growth spurt in 18 months!

Schmidt added that there are 65,000 Android phones sold every day.  At that pace, we’re looking at nearly 24 million devices a year.  With phones like the Droid Incredible and EVO 4G dropping this summer, the figures should continue to grow.
