Samsung Galaxy S to Hit 110 Nations at Once

According to Korean IT Times, the Samsung Galaxy S will be rolling out to 110 countries around the world later this summer. Among the carriers expected to offer the handset are Orange (France), SingTel (Singapore), and Deutsche Telecom (Germany).  It has been previously reported that the big four providers in the United States are also on tap to carry the phone.  A massive rollout like this doesn’t happen all that often and this shows a tremendous amount of confidence in the device by the handset maker.

With Android 2.1, a 4-inch Super AMOLED display, and 5-megapixel camera, the Galaxy S can definitely take on the likes of the Droid Incredible and EVO 4G.  Are any of you guys and gals looking to pick one up when it arrives?

I was waiting to get this for my wife, but after 2.2 hit, I got her the Nexus instead. I suppose we could always swap it out later, but right now FroYo rules.

I'm on Tmobile rockin' the G1 and I was waiting on this phone to upgrade, but TMO is taking their sweet time providing us any info on it. I've lost my patience and gone ahead and pre-ordered the HTC EVO, but if TMO announces the Samsung Galaxy before Friday I may just wait for it…

If we can get a release date before the EVO 4G is released on June 4th, I'll wait for it.

Am I missing something? The Galaxy S only has a 5 megapixel camera. And the rest of the specs seem to simply match other phones out there. Whats so special about it? I'd probably take a phone with an 8MP camera before this thing…

@tekchip…..Here's what you are missing. This phone has a ARM Cortex processor using's Samsung's proprietary chipset called Hummingbird which is almost 3 times faster than any processor available including the Snapdragon. It is also the first mobile phone that uses a Super AMOLED display which is noticeably better looking and more responsive than regular AMOLED displays. It may only have a 5 mega pixel camera but that does not mean it's camera is inferior to higher mega pixel camera's. Read the 9 page review on GSM Arena and you will see what is so good about this phone. They say that the new Samsung UI is so good that once you use it, you will never want to use anything else. One of the neat implementations is that when you swipe to the left on a phone book entry it starts a text message and when you swipe to the right it calls the persons default number. The phone is also the first DLNA certified mobile device which means you can stream HD content to your DLNA certified TV. Who needs HDMI out? GSM Arena also says…." The Nexus One and HTC Desire are nowhere near the Galaxy S standard"…………Here is the link..Be forewarned though. Once you read this review you are going to want this phone. http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i9000_galaxy_s-re

I played with the Galaxy S at CTIA and I have to say, it's impressive. It will hold it's own vs. a lot of other Android phones, especially with the amazing display it has. Looking forward to it's launch.

Samsung have made contracts with major telecommunication companies from 110 countries. For instance, Orange, which is the key brand Telecom in France, SingTel from Singapore, Deutsche Telecom from Germany and many others. This simultaneous release is a rare case in the industry.
