Droid Set for Android 2.2 Update in July

The Motorola Droid appears poised to be the first handset to see Android 2.2 aside from the Nexus One.  A recently leaked image shows the Droid salted for the update in late July while the brand new Droid X is scheduled for August.  PhoneDog has since received confirmation of the Droid update while Verizon has officially committed to a late summer release for Droid X handsets.

    Yeah, problem is, Verizon STILL hasn't rolled out the 2.2 update to the Moto Droid, and word on the street is they're abandoning phone entirely as far as updates go. Same for the Eris..
