HTC Releases Kernel Source Code for EVO 4G, HTC Hero

Good news for the Android developer community, HTC has finally released the source code for the Android 2.1 build of the HTC Hero.  While they were at it, HTC dropped the kernel for the EVO 4G.  Developers have been anxiously awaiting news of the source code and kernel so they can start modding, hacking, and building custom kernels to improve speed and save battery.  Rest assured the Android community will have something cooked up soon based on this new code.

Sprint said there would be no 2.2 upgrade for the HTC Hero. Can the community use this to make one?

SPRINT was happy to take my $179 for the HERO 6 months ago (its $49 or LESS now..) and didn't tell me I couldn't upgrade it to a new Android version. I feel that Spring has NO integrity in honest communication and will switch when my contract is up. HTC should have also made mention about limiting the updates for the phone which was touted and SOLD as the Hottest new thing... I feel taken.
