Dell Streak To Retail for $299 On AT&T Contract, Release Date Still Not Clear

Dell still won’t say when it will actually start selling and shipping the Streak in United States, but on Tuesday they did clear up a bit of lingering confusion. What exactly did they clear up you might ask?  Well it appears the Streak will be priced at $299.99 with a two-year AT&T contract, or $549.99 without contract. Sounds good to me! Price sounds pretty reasonable for that type of device.

A Dell spokeswoman also said today that the phone will not be launching in July as previously thought.  At this point folks, your guess is as good as mine. I really hope the Dell Streak doesn’t become another Xperia X10, it’s a really nice phone.  I should also mention that you now have the opportunity to sign-up for a pre-sale opportunity. You can do that right here.  Here’s to hoping this phone gets out the door soon folks!

Will you be buying one?

“Alien Dalvik” Will Run Android Apps Anywhere [VIDEO]

Remember that post a couple weeks ago about the Blackberry Playbook possibly being able to run Android apps? Well, if true, it looks like the Playbook won’t be the only guy in town. Open Handset Alliance member Myriad has just announced a tool called Alien Dalvik, which is Android’s Dalvik VM ported to other systems. This may sound like a bit of abracadabra to you, but it means you’ll be able to run Android apps on any platform, and without a disturbing lag. Alien Dalvik will run the majority of Android apps, but for the very device-dependent apps, there’s an add-on for the Android SDK.

This SUCKS! This was the phone I was going to upgrade from my G1 to. I'm not switching to AT&T though. I'll just have to wait for the Sabor I guess. Thank you Cyanogen for making it possible for me to keep my G1 for so long.

People at the AT&T Store I went to today said that they were supposed to open their display (which they thought had the Streak in it) last Sunday, but it got postponed to this Sunday. Maybe we'll see it then, August 1st?

Wow. Dell is shooting itself in the foot. They need to get the release date straight. All this messing around is turning me off to actually purchasing this product.
