Leaked Verizon Roadmap Shows Plenty of Android Love
The guys over at Boy Genius Report scored themselves a whopper this morning with what appears to be Verizon’s plans for the next six months or more. From the sounds of it, the carrier plans to use Android just as much, if not more, than they already are. Check out a few bullet points passed to BGR from a trusted VZW source…
- Another Droid is coming beyond the Droid X and Droid 2. This one will be called the Droid Pro and will feature a 1.3GHz CPU, 4″ screen and global roaming capabilities. The expected launch is November 2010. Sounds like something we might have recently come across…
- Motorola is working a “Q” form factor for Verizon that is said to offer a touch screen and feature global roaming and Android 2.2 under the hood.
- Global devices are coming from both Samsung and HTC.
- Samsung is working on a 7″ screen Android tablet (sound familiar?) with a front-facing camera. Motorola is also working on a tablet as well, although theirs features a 10-inch screen, a 1GHz/ 1.3GHz CPU, front-facing camera, and Android 3.0. Originally expected around December, it’s likely this will be held back until Android 3.0 is ready to roll. BGR is told to expect it around February 2011.
There are other details for Verizon’s plans including the rollout of LTE and the associated devices and pricing. Check out BGR’s post for the rest of the non-Android stuff.
