R2D2 Droid 2 Spied, Yeah He’s Awesome

Verizon’s Droid 2 goes on sale today, but we get the feeling that some of you are holding out for the R2D2 edition, even without a clue as to what he looks like.  Well, now you do.  Thanks to twitter user @r2d2central, we see that the phone very much resembles Artoo on the back.  As for the front, we imagine pictures will be arriving later today – Star Wars Celebration V starts today and the phone will be on display.

So… what do you think?  More or less than what you expected?

Blech. I thought it would be “inspired” by R2D2, similar to the way some limited edition shoes are styled after certain things. Maybe a white phone with blue and gray trim with something R2ish around the camera.

This is like an R2D2 decal.

I’m a big Star Wars fan but I’m not liking this. I thought it was going to have an R2D2 image/badge on the back, not the whole phone look like it. With the whole phone it just looks wrong with a Rectangular phone and a Round “headed” R2. Now an R2D4 would be more in line with the shape but who the heck would want that? It was a neat idea but for me it’s lacking in the execution. However I do know someone that would LOVE this and I’m sending her the link to this now.

Now if one of the little blue arms on the back served as a kick stand that would definitely add to the coolness factor.

    Hideous, geeky, eccentric.
I like it. Would buy the Arnold version, though.
