HTC Lexikon Headed to Verizon? Is This a Leaked ROM?

It was just over a month ago when we first learned of the existence of a new HTC device, the Lexikon.  Hitting the internet along with the HTC Bee, we got our first glimpse at its supposed specs.  A primer for those who missed it or forgot: The sliding QWERTY featured a MSM7630 Snapdragon processor at 800MHz, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage, a 3.8-inch display, and a 5-megapixel camera.  Pretty impressive, no?  Would it change your mind if you knew it was headed to Verizon?

The first image/render to hit the internet comes from a source that has been a pretty reliable stream of Android leaks in the past.  I have no reason to believe that the picture we’re looking at is faked.  I’ve said it before: a vast majority of Android leaks prove to be legit, if only delayed once in a while.  Further, there’s no internal alarm going off telling me the ROM below isn’t a signed Lexikon file.

So, like I did with the G2 ROM that made its way around the internet pretty quickly, I am going to put this alleged HTC Lexikon ROM out there for you guys.  I plan to circle back and update this post with anything good that might get ripped out of the files.  If you guys find anything awesome that needs shared with the class, be sure to email us at androidguys AT gmail.com so we can post it!

Looks like an Incredible that’s lost its trackwheel.

So this is the qwerty android for verizon?i wonder if its the equivalent of desire Z.

  • Fhiz

Still waiting for a phone thats stronger than the Incredible, because I really don’t want to get a motorola come this winter.

    • smooth3d

It is stronger then the Incredible.

I don’t think so, I waiting for something more powerful, faster and smoothies than Incredible and obvious it does not, to be real Is going to be so hard beat the HTC Incredible 2.2, has to be Dinc 2 may be, bcause even Galaxys line are Crap compared, DX no even close and Droid 2 Moto…forget it about it…same happened before to Nexus One Owners.

That phone is beautiful. Shame it only has an 800MHz Snapdragon. I’m not getting a new phone anyway until either Verizon has a 4G Android phone or I switch carriers. Until then, I’ll keep loving my Incredible.

This phone is essentially the same as HTC G2 and HTC Desire Z, except for the screen. Given that it is 3.8-inch, I suspect it will be the same screen as the one used by HTC myTouch HD.

As for the comment on “only” 800MHz – this isn’t really comparable to the current generation Snapdragon processor based phones.

    Look at the table here:

    http://smartphonebenchmarks.com

If you look at the result of HTC Desire HD (which also uses the 2nd gen processor but at 1GHz), it performs significantly better than the first generation Snapdragon based phones, even though those phones have received optimizations during these years.

MSM7x30 is a good processor. It features a new GPU called Adreno 205. This processor shouldn’t be compared against today’s Snapdragon phones.

Here’s a good article to read, if you are still interested in knowing more about Adreno 205:

Wanna see what the keyboard for this device look like? We all have seen it before, just didn’t realize they were the same phone.

Have a look at this thread:

Do you see the resemblance? :)

AndroidGuys was the site that got the first photo of this phone back at the beginning of August, and you didn’t make the connection?: http://www.androidguys.com/2010/08/07/htcverizon-world-phone/

What’s more, the processor speed is 800MHz, but it is a new architecture that outperforms the original Snapdragon significantly, and also is the processor that will be powering the upcoming G2/Desire Z. This processor will very likely blow the Incredible out of the water.
