Rumored G2 Update Adding WiFi Calling

We cannot confirm this on our ends as of yet but word around the campfire is that G2 handsets are getting an over-the-air software update.  After less than a week in the real world, the latest T-Mobile phone is said to pick up the ability to call over WiFi as well as tethering and a Google Goggles tweak.  There has been no official word from T-Mobile on this, at least from what we can tell.  Sounds like a test batch of phones before a full-blown roll out.  We’ll keep ya posted if we hear more either way.

Still not going to buy it if I can’t root it.

Hopefully the OTA will help people develop a permanent root.

So what’s in it for the T-mobile customer ?

Is this going to bring down the usage of minutes per month for them if they don’t have unlimited ?
