TnP (Track and Protect) is up for Best Mobile App

Dutch company, Klomptek, has been one of five companies nominated for the Softwareload Software of the Year 2010 award in the Best Mobile Tools category.  On Klomptek’s website, they describe their product as:

Track and Protect is a remote management tool and security application that allows users to monitor, lock and wipe data from a lost or stolen cell phone.  In addition to being able to secure content on the device through remote commands sent via the TnP web service, users are able to track the location of the missing phone in real time through the TnP online mapping system and take photographs from the device of its present surroundings, with the ability to listen in and capture images of the phone’s current possessor.  TnP allows users to collect enough information — including current location, new phone number, operator ID and facial photographs — to generate a substantive police report.  All features are operable even after illegal SIM change.

TnP sports a slew of features, the main ones are:

–    Auto configuration of personal web account during client setup
–    Full remote security control of personal phone via the web account

Anyone know how much it costs? The app is “free” but after reading the comments in the Market about how expensive the service is, I decided to pass on it. No one gave the actual price though and it’s not easily found on the website.

Magic Mike: that’s not a good sign if they don’t tell you the cost.
Anyone know how this stacks up with Wavesecure?

  • Frederick82

Actually it’s not expensive. It’s a pre-pay credit system and I paid 10 Euro’s for 35 credits. But I agree on the pricing being unclear as it only shows after installation and login. SMS is used to send commands from your user account to your phone, they call them credits. The technology used is superior to all I’ve seen before, the map is accurate, remote photographs is unique and very useful, and i tested the alien sim thing and it works. No idea how they do this but after i changed sim i could still take pictures remotely. A real useful service, i think the nomination is well deserved.

I bought 15 credits for 5 euro but i used them all up for testing. It’s a rock solid App with lots of cool features. I just upgraded by another 55 credits for 15 euro. Worth the money for sure. They got my vote 😉

This track and protect replaced my wavesecure because you pay only when needed with more options and the few tests i found on the web are very positive about it. If you read comments it never about bad functionality but about pricing like it is not free. I don not think app like trackandprotect can be free there is responsibility here. I paid 10 euro for 35 credits and used about 10 to test already and it is best security app i know because it always works and i read about a guy that found his lost phone because he recognized the place where he lost his phone. It was under a chair in a soccer stadium. Only trackandprotect can do this. I vote also 😉

  • Hi, all. Thanks for the kudos and votes! I just wanted to clarify the pricing — TnP does work on a credit system, as mentioned. The app is free to download, however some features of TnP use SMS messages for communication with your phone and require credits — sold in 5, 10 or 15 Euro increments — that can be purchased from your web account. Each command you issue (lock, wipe, photo, etc.) uses one credit, and your credits are only subtracted from your account if you use the service and for the small monthly subscription fee of two credits per month. This fee gives you 2 free commands per month.

TnP is the only mobile security tool that offers remote camera control, and allows you to listen in and do remote call-backs on calls issued from your device. The information collected can be used by phone owners to locate the device and aid in criminal prosecution. These features are unique to TnP, but the application has many additional features — listed above — that can help protect your data and device.

If you have any questions, please contact one of us at Klomptek and, again, thank you for voting for Track and Protect!
