Gingerbread Hitting AOSP Soon

The news of Gingerbread coming to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) might not mean much to the typical Android user, but the hacking community knows exactly what it implies.  Really awesome Gingerbread-based ROMS like Cyanogenmod are right around the corner. Google member Jean-Baptiste tweeted late last night that the stuff found in Android 2.3 will hit the AOSP soon after the Nexus S ships. How soon exactly remains to be seen. As good as some of the workable ROMs are today, this stuff will help out immensely when it drops.

Thanks to everyone who sent this in to us!
