Official Playstation App Coming to Android 1.6 and Above
Sony announced earlier today that an official Playstation application is coming to Android handsets in the near future. Now, before you run outside and scream to the heavens, you should know this is likely not the app you are thinking of. Rather than working as a portal to download games to Android devices (Playstation Phone), it’s more of a Playstation Network app. At least for starters. Still, this is great stuff nonetheless. And just to make sure all you Xperia X10 users are satisfied, the app will work on Android 1.6 and above!
The first release (1.0) of the app will land in UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and The Netherlands with more countries added all the time. According to the Playstation (EU) blog, we can expect to see “tons more features” added in the coming months.
The preliminary features include the following:
- Check out your PlayStation Network trophies and keep up to date with your friends’ games and online status.
- Discover all the latest games, news and hardware for your PlayStation 3, PSP and PlayStation 2.
- Read all the announcements on the European PlayStation.Blog.
- Share your favourite products or news with your friends on Facebook, Twitter or via e-mail.
