T-Mobile’s Dell Streak 7 Rumored to Run $330 [UPDATE]

An eagle-eyed Streak Smart reader has stumbled upon what may be the pricing for the upcoming Dell Streak 7 Android-based tablet. Although T-Mobile has yet to make the pricing available, it appears the cost of the device will fetch $330 with a two-year service agreement. If this pans out, this will be a shade cheaper than the Galaxy Tab from Samsung which currently carries a $350 sticker.

*On approved credit. $82.50 down payment, plus 3 monthly payments of $82.50, required.

The Streak 7 is a mixed bag of promise and trepidation as it features some excellent hardware with Android 2.2 under the hood. As you know by now, the OS is not optimized for tablets yet, leading to that whole “really large smart phone” experience. Couple that with a so-so history from Dell and you can understand our reluctance to climb into bed with T-Mobile for two years. An equally powerful LG G-Slate is expected for the carrier shortly with Android 3.0 powering things from the inside. Having said that, however, Dell’s Stage UI does lend itself well to people who like to have things wrapped up in pretty bows and put right in their face.

UPDATE: We received an email tonight from T-Mobile setting us straight on the pricing.  It looks like the real price has yet to reveal itself.  Here’s part of what we were sent…

“…Dell Streak 7 pricing information that appears on T-Mobile’s web site is the result of a technical error and is incorrect… We apologize about this error and inconvenience.  The Streak 7 will be available from T-Mobile in the coming weeks and we will share pricing and availability details in the near future – stay tuned!”
