Nexus One and Nexus S Receive OTA Updates

Android 2.2.2

Android 2.2.2

Coming home from the office I was pleasantly interrupted by an update notification on my good ol’ Nexus One. Alas, turned out the update was numbered 2.2.2 so no Gingerbread in sight. I’m happy to report though that my rooted N1 took the update with no problem. Let’s hope this is a prelude to a “real thing.”

Word is that the Nexus S received a similar, small update. Both updates were labeled as “bug fixes,” which has many speculating that it’s a fix for the SMS bug we heard so much about recently.

Got my update on Friday, 1/21/2011. The day after, my Nexus One froze on the opening screen as I was trying to slide the unlock bar from the left to the right, with it stopping almost as soon as it slid. Had to take the battery out. Not sure if it was that upgrade or one for “Phit Droid” game that caused it. Since then, no problems.

This cannot be simply a coincidence, but following the update, I am now getting that glitch that assigns random ring/text tones to respective contacts! This has never occurred on this phone for me till now. Although, it did on my first Nexus S. Do I have to return this one now too????

I just got my 2.2.2 update. Make sure you take your sd card out before you update. I didn’t on past updates, and it corrupted my sd card. My swype beta is no longer working with the update. Anyone else having problems with swype?

My stock not-rooted Nexus One in Canada (non-Videotron) was just updated (Monday, Jan.24, 2011).

I had no problems of any kind (no data corruption, no freezes, no settings lost).

PS: Google Cloud print just became available to me from the mobile web browser version of Gmail (but not from the app itself)!!! Amazing!
