Are You a T-Mo Customer? Then Check This Out!

I’m going to let the following quote say it all:

T-Mobile USA, Inc. today announced a Valentine’s offer to fall in love with. On Friday, February 11 and Saturday, February 12,all T-Mobile phones, even the fastest 4G smartphones running on America’s largest 4G network, will be offered for free at T-Mobile retail stores with qualifying plan on two-year contract.

I called to get the lowdown on this deal this weekend, and it is legit.  All phone from T-Mo are going to be free if you are a new customer or have a full upgrade available to you.  This is a great time to pick up a My Touch 4G or a G2 for free.

The only downside I could find was that if you are on a “Even More Plus Plan” from before they were done away with, you will not be able to upgrade.  Another thing to note, when T-Mo says “retail store”, it is unclear if they mean corporate stores along with resellers who are authorized dealers.  I called my local authorized dealer and they had no clue about this promotion.  Call yours before going out to stand in line.  Go get your sweetheart that Valentine’s day present for free!

You love me T-mo? Then sell me data by the gigabyte and make it not expire when the month does. Or reward the customer that’s been there for years instead of only rewarding new contracts. Or have a similar sale on new phone prices for your non-contract customers.

    • FooBar

Uhh…. I’ve been with them for 14 years and I assure you I get privileges and discounts for that. They always thank me for my loyalty when I call. I’m paying half of the normal data plan for unlimited and a much lower rate for cell service. They are doing just fine.

    • JaylanPHNX

This is available to upgrade-eligable customers. But I’ll give you the lack of deals for the contract-free customers. The upside to us is that we can put a new phone on the payment plan anytime we want.

Been with T-mo since 2002 haven’t got a ” free phone” yet! Hmmmmm? Customer loyalty?

  • Scmo

They do reward existing customers buddy. Someone I know went in to one to get an upgrade and they gave her like 35% additional off on the phone she wanted and they still gave her a rebate too. Don’t know how long they have been doing that but I don’t know anyone else out there rewarding customers like that. Check their site they have plenty of free phones…

    • James

But only for renewing a 2 year contract. T-mo has had Even More Plus (no contract) for awhile but there’s never a deal or sale that applies to us. Want a phone? Pay full retail. Been there for years? Pay full retail.

      • Luke Wallace

I think the idea is that the Even More Plus plans are cheaper per month, so you get a deal or sale every month.

      • bryan

That is how it works you get a discount on the handset BECAUSE you are signing a new 2 year contract.
If you choose Even More + you get a less expensive rate each month.

        • JaylanPHNX

And don’t forget their awesome payment plans. I sold my CliqXT and used that to pay it off, then put a MyTouch 4G on the payment plan. Walked out with a new phone for under $60 (not counting the XT payoff). My bill is still a bit less than the same plan under contract, and when I’m done paying for the phone, it goes down.

  • ggfb20

I wonder if someone can give me the correct answer to this…can you keep your “Even More Plus Plan” if you choose to purchase the phone full price and not as an upgrade? and does that go for all current and future phones? @mention the answer to me on twitter as well thanks twitterdotcom/ggfb20

    • bryan

If you pay full price you can stay on the Even More Plus Plan. You can always buy a phone at full price and not make any changes to you plan or contract.

  • timmyjoe42

Paying full price for a phone (now and forever) is the only way to get a new one if you are on an EM+ plan. (and tweeted)

    • bryan

You actually have the option to switch from EM+ to EM and when you get a new phone. You may not get the full discount based on how old your account is and of course if you switch to EM you will start a new 2 year contract.

      • JaylanPHNX

That’s not what I’ve been told by multiple sources. Once you are a no-contract EM+ member, you can NEVER go back to having a contract unless you cancel your account and start all over with a new number as a new customer (bye-bye loyalty).

        • MrH

This changed only a couple months ago so call them up. Like Bryan said, you have to sign a new two year agreement, you must upgrade at the time of the rate plan change, and you must be eligible for the full discount or at 22 months since last upgrade. Now you’ve been educated, don’t go overboard with it.

Been with T-Mo since 2002 gotten lots of “discounts” on phones for reupping for 2 more years. Was one of the first to get the G2 and renewed for 2 more years and still paid about $350 for the phone plus the extra $30 a month for Android data. Now they give them away for free 5 months later? Gee thanks.

    • MrH

Like this guy, don’t be surprised when the cool new phone you purchased five months ago or even four months ago goes on sale if you were one of the first to buy it. You got what you wanted, you got to show everybody your new toy first and you paid a premium for it so don’t cry now. If you’ve been using a cell phone for more than two years then you already know the cell phone industry changes every quarter so new phones every three to four months so yes, the price of your new toy that isn’t five months old is now free or almost there. Don’t blame companies for marketing competitively when you couldn’t be patient. You have a great phone, enjoy it!

  • MrH

Wow, on an Even More Plus plan and you say you’re not getting a deal? Okay for all you na sayers, here’s the difference in the Even More Plus and Even More plans if ya’ll didn’t already realize the price differences on your own. It’s all about how you want your savings, you can either have a savings off the monthly service and pay retail for the phones but get 20 months of interest free payments to pay off the phone with Even More Plus(no contract) or you can get your savings off the phone every 12 months(early upgrade or partial discount) or 22 months(Full upgrade or full discount like new customer but without the $35 activation fee) and pay regular plan pricing and you only get four months to pay the phone off. Everybody is getting a deal, the problem is most of you with the exception of Foobar(thank you by the way, you rock!) think you aren’t and want more. Greed is the root of all evil and if you all actually looked at the competition to T-Mobile and read their fine print you’ll see that you are truly getting a great deal. And for those of you on an Even More Plus plan and wanna start getting the discounts on the phone instead of your rate plan again then call T-mobile and do it, but you gotta be at 22 months for an upgrade. Have fun and please be responsible, cause most of ya’ll out there aren’t!
