Samsung Unveils New Name for Family of Processors (Orion)

Samsung issued a press release yesterday announcing a new brand name for their mobile processors.  This new naming system will be called the Exynos, and will start with re-branding of the dual-core Orion processors which were announced last September.  These chips will now be called the Exynos 4210 and are expected to roll into production next month.  As to how the name was conceived, it comes from Greek etymology for smart and green.

Smart refers to high-performance aspect and Green represents low power features of Samsung’s application processors. Exynos originates from the Greek words smart (exypnos) and green (prasinos). – excerpt from press release
