A Sign that the Android Market Will Finally Make it’s Way to Google TV
Gear Live is reporting today that the Vice President for Logitech’s Digital Home Group, Ashish Arora, confirmed today during an interview that a version of the Android Market is coming, on a “very short term” time frame. Exciting news for sure as people have been commenting that when Google TV gets the Market it will be a must have device. Here is the quote from the Gear Live article:
Speaking at the OTTCon here on Tuesday, Ashish Arora, the vice president and general manager for Logitech’s Digital Home Group, was asked on a panel discussion whether Google TV owners would be able to take advantage of other Android apps soon.
Arora answered in the affirmative, although his answers didn’t quite nail down the timeframe. “It will happen shortly,” he said. “It’s a given that it will happen this year, 100 percent,” he said.
“We’re talking about a very short term,” he said.
Of course, it is important to note that while Arora does not work for Google, Logitech was one of the largest partners for the Google TV launch, meaning that we can put some weight behind his statements and keep our fingers crossed that there are no major delays to skew the time frame. If Google TV got the Market, would that change your mind about buying one?
