Millennial Media: Android Holds 53% Share of World Market

The latest Mobile Mix report from Millennial Media is out today, covering the smart phone landscape from April 2011.  As the headline implies, Android still owns the crown (five straight months) for market share at 53%, up 10% over the previous month.  That’s pretty easy to do when you 16 of the top 20 devices recognized on your ad network run the Google platform. Coming in second, Apple’s iOS had 28% while RIM’s BlackBerry OS followed with 16% for third. In terms of revenue, Millennial Media reports that Apple developers are pulling in 50% while Android trails with 39% share.
