June 30th Thunderbolt Update Brings Gingerbread, Skype

Our friends over at Phandroid have gotten their hands on what appears to be a leaked document from Verzion, and it brings good news for Thunderbolt owners. The Thunderbolt is set to receive an update on June 30th that not only gives users the latest and greatest in the form of Android 2.3.4, but it also includes Skype video chat, which was originally supposed to launch with the device. So, not only are TB owners getting GTalk video chat capabilities, they’re also getting Skype, one of the most popular video chat clients ever.

Of course, this is all speculation at the moment, so we can’t be sure of anything. I’m just impressed that the Thunderbolt might be getting Gingerbread soon. Any of our readers out there have a Thunderbolt? Excited for the potential update? Sound off in the comments below, or on our Facebook Wall!

    • I have seen an announcement that there will be no Sense 3.0 coming from HTC to the Thunderbolt.  Having tried three custom Sense 3.0 ROM’s I can tell you that not bringing them to the ‘bolt is probably a good thing. It looks wonderful but the phone becomes a real pig in terms of performance and even worse battery life. I kind of like Sense, but I can live without 3.0 now that I have tried it.

  1. it is also rumored to have Sense2.1. Anyone know what the difference is between that and the version we have now?
