Andy Rubin: Half Million Daily Android Activations and Growing
Andy Rubin, the founder of Android and current Senior Vice President of Mobile at Google, tweeted yet another Android milestone this morning. You do know that the platform is growing, right? Well, as Rubin advises, that growth is at a rate of 4.4% week over week. According to the latest figures out of Google, there are now one half million Android activations every single day. This is quite the monumental number considering it was at 400,000 per day just last month at Google IO.
Let’s take a look at where things were just a few months back…
- May 2009 – 30,000 per day
- May 2010 – 100,000 per day
- August 2010 – 200,000 per day
- December 2010 – 300,000 per day
- May 2011 – 400,000 per day
When do you think we’ll hit the 1 Million Per Day mark? If things hold steady, we project this as the week of October 21st. We’ll see!
Could we be at 2 million per day at Google IO 2012?
