Samsung Galaxy R Makes Appearance in Demo Video, Headed to the UK?
Eventually, the guys over at Samsung are going to run out of letters to put at the end of “Galaxy” in order to name their devices. First it was the Galaxy Q on Rogers, and now we’re getting wind of something that’s being dubbed the Samsung Galaxy R. After watching the video, it appears to be a thicker Galaxy S II, sporting a dual-core 1GHz Tegra 2 processor, and a 4.19-inch screen. Odd measurements aside, we’re not exactly sure where Samsung is going with this device. It’s packed with Sammy’s SocialHub, Gaming Hub, Readers Hub, and Music Hub, so obviously they’re aiming for the “does-it-all and makes it look easy” category.
It’s also worth noting that, according to the video, the screen is a Super Clear LCD display, not the usual Super AMOLED we’re accustomed to seeing on Galaxy S devices. Sadly, we searched high and low, but no Android version was given for the device. While we’re on the subject of things not mentioned in the video, the cameras weren’t highlighted at all, which leads us to believe they won’t be over 5 or 6MP. Rumors are pointing toward a UK launch for the device, but it’s unclear on which carrier or when. We’ll keep you in the loop in case something else pops up.
So, is anyone across the pond looking to pick up the Galaxy R? Sound off in the comments below!
