Some of you may have heard that Sony Ericsson has begun rolling out the Gingerbread update for the Xperia X10 handset.  You’d be forgiven if you thought it was really happening as there were even official pictures and details trickling out across the internet.  Unfortunately, someone jumped the gun and the news of the update was a tad premature.  Sony Ericsson has taken to their blog to clarify the situation.  As it turns out, the Android 2.3.3 update is just around the corner and due in a few days time.

The launch is imminent and timing according to plan but we just need some more days before we can push the button. Please stay tuned here on the product blog where we will notify you as soon as the first software kits start to roll out. – Sony Ericsson
