T-Mobile USA Now Rolling Out Android 2.3 Update for T-Mobile G2X

Back in March, T-Mobile officially launched the G2X, a variant of LG Optimus 2X and the world’s first ever dual-core smartphone. Unfortunately for some, the G2x was released with Android 2.2 and not the latest version. Now after a period of almost 3 months, T-Mobile is finally rolling out Android 2.3 update for G2X. The over-the-air update began on July 25 keep an eye out for an update notification.

Here are the new features in the update:

  • Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) OS
  • Improved battery life
  • Improved front-facing camera operation when using Qik record and share
  • Improved disabling Car Home
  • Helps address unexpected reboots
So T-Mobile G2 owners, did you get your Gingerbread update? Is it good? Tell us in the comment box below.
  • Im having it shipped to me! Will try to post back results if OTA has hit my handset.

If we upgraded to Gingerbread using the LG Updater, will we still get an upgrade from T-Mobile?  Also, will the Android Market be updated to the new version?  Mine is still 2.3.6.  Thanks.

The update was good however, it took out the original camera features and replaced it with the stock camera
