Texas Instruments Excited For Ice Cream Sandwich

Texas Instruments has been a key player in the Android smart phone industry over the last few years but they’ve been noticeably absent from the tablet game.  Things look to change in the next few months, though, with the release of Ice Cream Sandwich. TI has been using the image you see above as promotional material for events that take place this fall. And if pictures tell a story, we’re ready to listen.

It’s uncertain as to which devices will be using TI’s new chipsets, however we can’t wait to find out. There are two dual-core processors that Texas Instruments is looking to hype now in the 4460 and 4470. The latter is the more intriguing to us at this point as it is rated at 1.8GHz and includes a PowerVR SGX544 graphics processing unit (GPU). This GPU is expected to sample later in 2011 and can deliver twice the performance of the stuff in today’s OMAP4 chips.

The fall season, and Ice Cream Sandwich, cannot get here soon enough!

I hope whatever fanciful dessert they bring to the table, it’ll make my battery last all day! I hear that is exactly what is coming. Cross your fingers!
