Updated Skype App Supports Video Chat for 17 Additional Devices

A new version (2.1.0.46) of Skype has landed in the Android Market today, adding video chat support to another 17 devices.  The total now sits at 21 supported Android handsets and includes a few notable handsets such as the EVO 4G, Thunderbolt, and Xperia PLAY.  The caveat here is that if you’re using Android 2.2 Froyo then only the back camera will work.  Why?  Because only Android 2.3+ Gingerbread allow apps to access the front-facing camera.

Hit the break to see if your phone is on the list.  One trend we’re noticing is a lack of support for Motorola handsets thus far.  Wonder why that seems to be the case?
