Nielsen: 40% of Nation’s Smartphones Run Android

These days, it seems that Android never stops rolling. Our favorite little green guy is taking over the US, with a commanding 40% share of the nation’s smartphone users. Even more good news is that the runner up, iOS, only has a market share of 28%, leaving the country’s top mobile OS some breathing room (not that it needs it). The report, done by Nielsen for the month of July 2011, shows the market share of the leading mobile operating systems, and the results are not surprising in the slightest.
