Press Shots Reveal the Budget Friendly HTC Explorer (Pico)
HTC has been pumping out handsets left and right and while this next one doesn’t share a musical moniker, it does appeal to the budget conscious. We first gave you a look at this compact budget-friendly device back when it was codenamed the HTC Pico. It’s since adopted the name “HTC Explorer” and has received a proper press shot showing off a black exterior which differs from the blue one we showed you last month. We’ve heard they plan on offering the Explorer in both black and blue and it also appears to have maintained its earlier rumored specs.
Appealing to the “free on contract” casual user, the HTC Explorer is rumored to have a 600MHz processor, 3.2-inch HVGA display, 384MB/512MB RAM/ROM, and five-megapixel camera. It will also come equipped with Gingerbread and Sense 3.5, making it a wallet-saving winner for those moms and dads looking to step up their dumbphones.
We may learn more about the Explorer at HTC’s NYC event today but I’m not betting on it as we’ll most likely be hearing about the higher-end devices such as the HTC Incredible HD. Choice is good, and choice is what we have. Keep ’em comin’ HTC.
