SugarSync Adds Text Editing and Increased Productivity to iOS App; Brings Powerful Mobile Device Management to Android Devices
Updated iOS and Android Apps Make Mobile Devices Even More Productive, with a Single Place to Manage All Devices
SAN MATEO, CALIF., Sept. 20, 2011 – SugarSync, the Cloud storage, sync and share company, today announced that it has updated its SugarSync for iOS and SugarSync for Android apps, making it even easier for users to backup, access, sync and share all of their files and data to and from their iOS and Android devices. New features include a built-in simple text editor and new functionality for increased productivity in the iOS app, and the introduction of Mobile Device Management capabilities for Android devices – the easiest way to get files from your computer to your Android phones and tablets.
“SugarSync has always supported the most mobile devices in the industry, but we’re constantly striving to enhance the mobile Cloud experience,” said Laura Yecies, CEO of SugarSync. “With our updated SugarSync for iOS app, you can now create and edit plain text files directly from the app, as well as take advantage of several new productivity improvements we’ve added. With the update to our Android app, we have added Mobile Device Management for Android devices. With SugarSync, you can now be as productive from your mobile device as you are from your laptop.”
SugarSync for iOS
With today’s update to the SugarSync for iOS app, we have introduced new features and functionality to put more SugarSync mobile power in the palm of your hands.
Built In Simple Text Editor for In-App Editing
Today we’re introducing a built-in simple text editor for iPhones and iPads, enabling you to create or edit plain text files directly within the app and have those files automatically synced to all of your computers and devices. Now you are not required to purchase a third-party text editing app in order to create or make changes to simple text files on the go. And for everything other than plain text files, we still integrate with leading document editing apps including Quickoffice, Documents To Go, ReaddleDocs and other apps that benefit from integration with SugarSync’s online backup, sync and share capabilities.
Upload, Sort and Create More Easily
We’ve added a new menu bar that lets you quickly sort files, upload photos & videos, and even create new folders or text files on any computer or shared folder. Any folder can easily be sorted to make it easier to find what you’re looking for on any of your computers or devices.
You can also upload photos and videos directly to any folder on any device, making it easier to transfer your large media files from your iOS device to your computers. Do you have hundreds of photos taken on your mobile device that you need to backup and store on your computer? You can now simply select your photos and videos and sync them to the folder and computer of your choice. Need a new folder on your computer to put these images (or other files) in? The ability to create and manage folders on any computer from your iOS device makes that possible.
Syncing Just Got Simpler
You have a lot of files, music, photos, movies, etc., and you need a simpler way to sync that data to your iOS device for offline use. Now you can select multiple files and folders at a time and sync them all to your device for offline access with one click. Are you sitting in the airport, about to board a flight, and need to sync a bunch of folders to your iPad so that you can work on the files on the plane? Simply select all the folders you need, and with one click, they will all be synced locally to your device.

Mobile Device Management Makes It Even Easier to Sync Data to Your Device
SugarSync’s Mobile Device Management feature gives you the ability to view and control the data on your Android mobile devices from within the SugarSync Web console, making it the easiest way to get files from your computer to your Android phone or tablet. SugarSync introduced Mobile Device Management for iOS back in June, and today we are extending this functionality to Android devices. Today, Android users can:
- Transfer files or entire folders to your Android device from the Web. No wires needed.
- Simply view all the synced data on your Android device from the Web.
- Easily refresh files or entire folders on your Android device with a single click.
You’ve always been able to access and manage your data on the Cloud from your mobile devices with SugarSync. Now with SugarSync’s Mobile Device Management, you can access and manage your devices from the Cloud.
