GoGear Connect 3 From Philips up for Pre-Order
Philips’ PMP GoGear Connect 3 may be close to release as it appears to be available for pre-order over at J&R.com. The GoGear Connect 3 is a handheld personal media player, more commonly known as an “iPod touch,” running Android 2.3 and giving users all the enjoyment of Android minus the whole phone thing. The GGC3 will come in both 8GB and 16GB models and feature a 3.2″ capacitive touchscreen, WiFi, HD video playback up to 720p, built-in camera, MicroSD slot, Philips FullSound technology and Philips’ music syncing program Song Bird.
No official pricing has bee announced for the GGC3 but J&R.com has the 8GB listed at $179.99 and the 16GB at $219.99. This one’s going to be a tough sell, not only because of the impending competition (Sony Walkman Z, Samsung Galaxy Players), but because nowadays you can pick up a used Android device sans contract for around the same price. That way if you ever decide you’d like to activate the phone, at least it’s an option.
Well, can’t blame them for trying — and I’m certainly curious to see how all of the above mentioned devices pan out. Anyone planning on picking up a Philips GoGear Connect 3? What do you guys think of Android PMP devices? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
