Pose Released to Android Market
Pose Raises $3 Million in Series A Financing from GRP Partners, True Ventures and Mousse Partners
Expands to Android for Sharing and Discovery of Style and Fashion
Santa Monica, Calif. – Oct. 20, 2011 – Pose, a mobile platform for real-time discovery and sharing of fashion, shopping and style, today announced that it has raised $3 million in Series A financing from GRP Partners, True Ventures and Mousse Partners. The capital will be used to continue developing the product and grow the engineering team.
Available as a free app for iPhone and, as of today, Android, Pose lets people express their style and discover new trends that can be shared with friends, followers and a community of style lovers. Users can “pose” images of things that inspire them, tag brands and stores and share poses on Facebook, Twitter and tumblr. As announced recently at f8, Pose is also one of a new class of apps that help people express who they are on Facebook. Pose will enable people to showcase their style on Facebook and to discover their friends’ style.
“Style is something that is inherently visual and we’ve found that people want to share their personal style with others for inspiration,” said Dustin Rosen, founder and CEO, Pose. “People express themselves through style every day. Pose captures that and adds an element of discovery and community that is perfect for style lovers.”
“Pose is more than just a great app for discovering new media – it is creating a bridge between offline retailers and the online, always connected consumer,” said Mark Suster, partner, GRP Partners. “Pose creates a two-way dialogue between brands and customers, allowing brands to interact with consumers, offer deals and incentives and receive feedback in a new way.”
Pose has partnered with top brands including Aerie by American Eagle, DKNY, Jewelmint.com Levi’s and True Religion. In addition, Pose offers users access to some of the most influential fashion bloggers that contribute to the “Poser” style feed including Veronica Belmont (blogger and tech star), Blair and Elle Fowler (YouTube style stars), Tod Hallman (celebrity stylist), Geri Hirsch (blogger: Because I’m Addicted), and Leandra Medine (blogger: The Man Repeller).
Pose is a mobile platform for real-time discovery and sharing of fashion, shopping and style. Pose’s mission is to create a global, social platform for self expression, where users share and discover style and interact with their favorite brands in a meaningful way. Pose is funded by GRP Partners, Mousse Partners, True Ventures and Founder Collective along with angel investors Shawn Fanning and Dave Morin, and leaders of the Los Angeles technology community Diego Berdakin, Josh Berman, Paul Bricault, Paige Craig, Bruce Gersh, Doug Hirsch, Scott Marlette, Tom McInerney and Evan Rifkin.
