Asus Padfone rocking Snapdragon MSM8960 processor, impressive benchmarks?
Here’s one we haven’t heard about in quite awhile: the Asus Padfone. You remember, the phone that fit into a tablet that blew everyone’s minds back in May? Bits and pieces of the device are starting to fall into place, as we’ve just learned that the Padfone will apparently have a brand-spanking-new Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8960 CPU under the hood. Now, it’s unclear what the speeds are clocked at, but the device is rumored to have very pleasing benchmarks. Keep in mind that the MSM8960 is one of the processors announced in the new family of Snapdragons, which Qualcomm is touting as the most powerful CPUs yet.
Now, if this is indeed true, the Padfone will be one of the first Android devices to launch with Qualcomm’s latest processor in tow. According to the chart, we can also see that the Padfone will likely launch with Android 2.3.5. This may change now that ICS has been introduced, though.
More on this as it develops. So, who’s looking forward to the Asus Padfone? Anyone not impressed with the concept? Drop a comment below!
