Sonos has announced a major software update bringing their system software to version 3.6 and adding quite a few features. With a simple one button update, users of Sonos Wireless HiFi devices will have more control and more music to enjoy at no additional cost. Android users will now have more control over their music and hardware thanks to an updated Sonos Controller for Android, which now supports Android tablets running Android 2.2+ (you’ve just found another use for that Kindle Fire).

Sonos System Software 3.6 brings more music to your Sonos device thanks to the addition of Slacker Radio. Create and enjoy free unlimited custom stations with Slacker Radio’s library of millions of songs. Access artist biographies or view song lyrics from every room, all from the palm of your hand. For even more features and ad-free listening, users can upgrade to Slacker Premium Radio.

Sonos has also improved Spotify integration by giving users access to their Spotify inbox and allowing them to play from Spotify’s new releases and top tracks. If all that wasn’t enough new music for you, Sonos has also introduced Sonos Labs, a Beta environment that allows users to test out new music services before they’re officially launched on Sonos.

“Today’s feature update reaffirms our commitment to persistently innovate so that Sonos users have the ultimate music experience in every room of the home,” said John MacFarlane, founder and CEO, Sonos, Inc. “Endless music and effortless control are what will keep us as the gold standard for listening out loud in the home.”

Other features include additional language support along with AAC+ Codec Support. For more information on the Sonos Software 3.6 update, visit http://www.sonos.com/support/software_updates/.
