Toshiba's wireless keyboard is the perfect tablet companion

If you’ve made the transition away from a laptop or netbook and over to a tablet then you know the added mobility brings a tad bit of added awkwardness.  For all the good that standard on-screen keyboards and third party options offer there nothing replaces a physical keyboard.  Unfortunately most keyboards are thicker than today’s average tablets.  Toshiba has recently released a wireless keyboard (PA3959U-1ETB) which is both compact and lightweight yet functional at the same time.

Moving from a full-sized keyboard from a desktop computer down to laptop or netbook can be aggravating as we can get all too comfortable with the spacing and layout.  Toshiba does a great job with this keyboard as it feels as spacious as a laptop but without bulk and heft. At roughly half a pound and less than a half (.35″) inch thick, it’s lighter and thinner than most tablets.  Powered by an internal rechargeable battery, it gets juice from a micro-USB port and can charge from the same plug as your smartphone or tablet.
The Toshiba keyboard include 80 full-sized tile keys, including 17 Android-specific hotkeys for search, menu, home, and more.  I’ve come to appreciate the ease at which I can launch into my calendar, swipe screens, return home, and even pound out an email with the keyboard.

Pairing the keyboard over Bluetooth is very easy thanks to the button underneath and the LED lights in the top row. Battery life is excellent, lasting more than a few days at a time, and charging is very quick.  I tend to charge up the keyboard every other day or so just out of habit and because I never know when I’ll be working from the tablet instead of a laptop or desktop. Without the Toshiba keyboard it has become difficult for me to feel half as efficient on my Toshiba Thrive tablet.  Of course the Bluetooth allow for universal connectivity so it also works well for the Galaxy Tab 10.1, XOOM, and HTC Flyer.

All the office productivity I need...

Toshiba offers the keyboard for $69.99 if you purchase it directly from their website however various outlets offer it at lower prices.  Amazon, for instance, lists it at $57.50 today however I don’t know how long the discounted cost will last.  This keyboard would make for a greatfor the Android tablet owner in your life!
