Twitter announces new look and design, releases v3.0 of Android app

Not to be outdone by Facebook and their just-updated Android application, Twitter has gone and released an entirely new app and experience.  As outlined on the company’s blog today, the 3.0 Android app is one of the first looks at a redesigned Twitter. The new app, and the social networking service in general, are all about making it easier to “follow what you care about, connect with others and discover something new”.

What’s new in Twitter 3.0 for Android?

  1. The latest version of Twitter offers a faster, simpler way to stay close to everything you care about on your Android.
  2. Home is where you start: a personal collection of Tweets from the sources you care about. The Tweet details show rich information such as replies, retweets and embedded images.
  3. Connect is the place to see who followed or mentioned you, retweeted or favorited one of your Tweets.
  4. Discover is where you can tap into the stories and trends people are talking about in your world.
