Samsung announces 300 million+ handset shipments for 2011

Samsung announced over the weekend that they have shipped more than 300 million handsets worldwide in 2011 with a month left to go.  Easily besting last year’s 280 million figure, we’re anxious to see where they end up for the full year.  The strategy of releasing flagship devices such as the Galaxy S and Galaxy S II seems to be paying off greatly and we look forward to successors in coming months.

“We are incredibly proud of this record-breaking sales milestone and have exceeded the annual target announced early this year, which is testament to the enduring appeal of Samsung phones with consumers around the world,” said Shin Jong-kyun, president and head of Samsung’s mobile communications business.

Congratulations to Samsung for the success!  Here’s to continued momentum into 2012 and beyond!
