Google Android IBM Patent

Google adds 217 more patents to their arsenal, courtesy of IBM

In the latest patent war news, Google has recently acquired 188 granted patents and 29 pending patents from IBM. The deal went through on Dec. 31, 2011, and the information comes straight from the US Patent Office, so we can rest assured its legit. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen patent bouncing from these companies; IBM beefed up Google’s patent portfolio by 1,000 patents back in September of 2011 as well.

While all of these patents aren’t in the mobile division, there are more than enough patents that fall under the Android umbrella. While there aren’t any financial details out in the wild yet, it seems that Google has no problem pulling stops to make their portfolio bigger, badder, and all around beefier.
